Everyone
Hey!!!
Super crazy week. It’s been super fun and I LOVED
conference!! It’s like the best weekend on the mission and it comes 2 times a
year too!! We watched it here in the church but on the computer in the Family
history center with the other 2 Hermanas in our ward who both are Americans. I
really liked the sessions though. I wish I could have mentally prepared myself
a little better but we had a pretty crazy week and yeah. Favorite talks would
be by Elder Holland and Pres Uchdorf. Their talks were right after each other
and they explained the Atonement and the need for it and it was super good.
They cleared up some great stuff for me and how I can use that to teach too.
My companion is pretty cool. He grew up in Omaha Nebraska
but then moved to Morgan UT for the last 2 years before his mission. We get
along really good and its super fun. We are like super good zone leaders for
the Hermana’s and it’s been super fun so far. It’s pretty normal now being a
zone leader. I really like DC 107:99 because it talks about everyone learning
their duty then doing it with all diligence. I feel like I’ve been in that
lately. I’m learning what I’m supposed to do then just doing my best. I’m still
learning a ton and I have my comp who has a little more time and knowledge than
me as a ZL and so that helps a lot too. I still don’t know all the area or all
the investigators because of the lack of time we have to teach people but
Galeana is pretty cool. SUPER HOT.
So Tuesday my comp and I went to the district meeting like
normal but we just gave some announcements really quick at the beginning and
then had to run to Cuernavaca really quick. There we had an interview with
president that was about the zone then we had like 3 hours of free time. We
decided to go to Centro of Cuernavaca and it was super cool!!! That’s like the
place that’s so dang cool and the reason why people go there. There were like a
bajillion people and we just went around shopping. I had a Krispy Kreme for the
first time in like a year. Then we went shopping a bit and I got a really cool
new backpack for P-days and divisions and stuff and then we went to the BBQ
from Hermana Kusch which was super good! Then we stayed at the offices to sleep
and the next day we had council with president. It was super cool because we
got to hear right from his mouth what he wanted done and things he’s learned so
that we can understand them better. Then we went back to the house after that
and got to work just a bit on Wednesday.
Thursday morning we went with the Hermanas
again to close their old house and help move a few last things. Then we got to
work that afternoon too! Friday we had interviews with president so we were at
the church from like 9 to 3ish making sure things went nice and smoothly.
Saturday was conference so we were just at the church allll day and then same
with Sunday! So that was my week. Super crazy. I’m hoping that this week will
be a bit more normal and we will get to go out and teach just a bit more. I
still need to get to know the area because we will start doing divisions with
the DLs and the assistants more. Galeana is super cool and I love the people
here. It’s not too much different from Cuautla but its SUPER HOT like every
night we sleep with our fans on and no covers and are still dying. It’s like
the hottest part of the year so it’s to be expected. I can’t wait for the rainy
season though. It’s gonna be great.
So one last thing from conference that I loved. I don’t
remember who it was that went over the parable of the debtor but it gave a new
insight for me. Basically a debtor forgives someone who owes 50 and someone
that owes 500. The question is who will love the person who forgave them more?
This is applied to all our lives. We are all in debt to Jesus Christ for what
he did in the Atonement. It doesn’t matter if someone sinned all there life
before they accepted him and decided to follow them or if someone who was born
in the church and lived a life following Christ since they can remember. We are
ALL in debt to him. There is NOTHING we can gain from our own merits and we
have to rely COMPLETELY in Christ to be saved. We can all be like the one who
was forgiven 500 and loved more for that because every day we repent and give more
to be forgiven. There is never a reason to look down on someone who is or isn’t
trying to following Christ but doing bad things. We are all lost and all must
rely on Christ.
I hope you all received your own personal revelation for things
in your lives from General Conference. Watch it all again! It’s not all over
and done. We have to keep reminding ourselves because we are human and forget.
Anyways that’s my sh-peel for the day.
I love you all! I know the church is true
and I’m super happy to be here as a missionary!
Have a great week!!
Love, Elder Marrott
