Apostles and Mission Presidents

Hola!!

So recovery has been going pretty easy. I cant really do anything too exerting. I just walk to class and sit during gym time and take it real easy. I tried to just hit the ball to one of the elders in the district back and forth on an empty court like sort of practicing serving and the guy was like i dont know how i feel about you doing that with you just having surgery. It was lame.

The Spanish is coming super good though!! I could probably understand just about anything someone said. Talking back i can usually get my point across but it just takes a while to remember the words. They are super good at teaching here so you learn it so fast though. This week at our devotional we had 6 apostles there!!!! and all the new mission presidents!! My Stake president from my YSA stake at BYUI was there! i almost had forgotten that he was called to be a president of a mission. It was soooo goood. So Elders Nelson, Ballard, Oaks, Christoferson, Bednar, Anderson were all there!!! we got to hear from elder Christofferson and he gave a great talk about the worth of a soul. It was way good. Besides that we have just been trecking along learning spanish and how to teach!! Its crazy that today was my 3rd P-day already. Almost half way done with the MTC! I cant wait to actually feel the reward of baptizing and teaching real people here. The gospel is awesome and so simple. It really is alllll centered in Christ and beleiving and trusting and putting all our faith in him and his atonement and then acting on what we feel and know is right through the spirit. If you do those things, they will lead and guide you to do everything you need to do in your life to receive exaltation and eternal life. I have a firm testimony of it!!

I love you all and love hearing from everyone!!! If you ever want to write me where i will guaranteed read and be able to see it you can at DearElder.com or something like that. They come like same or next day and are super convenient.

Love,
Elder Marrott

Who needs appendix?

Hola!!
So as some of you might know by now I’ve had a preettyyyy crazy last few days. So Friday I was doing super good, we played volleyball like I usually do during gym time, I was dominating with my serves once I finally figured out how to convert my tennis serve haha. But after lunch I got a pretty bad stomach ache and I like could not focus on our lesson that afternoon. I ended up throwing up, skipping dinner and just going home for the night with one of my companions and threw up again that night. I thought I had food poisoning or something.

In the morning it was our p-day yesterday which is why this email is 1 day late. We had service and I did that like a cripple, still in a ton of pain and when the rest of my zone was going to go to the temple, me and Elder Smith decided I should go to the medical unit on the main campus and get myself checked out. Well they were super busy with new mission presidents and basically every apostle and member of the 12 going through there so they sent us down the street to the BYU urgent care center where I got some tests done and they thought it could be appendicitis so they sent me to the ER for a CAT scan, and turns out they were right! So yeah, yesterday I got my appendix out, crazy right??

Well I’m back at the MTC loaded with drugs and the support of my zone and friends. I got to see a lot of you and friends and family at the hospital which was great. I can honestly say there was never a time I was worried. I know that the Lord wants to prepare me for serving in the field and He thought that now was the time to get my appendix out. It pretty much couldn’t be better timing because I still have a month left in the MTC and should be fully recovered by the time I get out. Too bad, no volleyball anymore though, and it’s way better here than in Mexico.

So on another note, that investigator I was talking about last email?? Ended up being our new teacher... haha. Our district had a nice long laugh about that. But it’s super good! So we have a lot more class time with a teacher which is wayyy better. So I’m like kind of on drugs right now and it’s hard for me to focus.... but I love each of you and I can’t tell you how great it is to be a missionary and learn and become as close to our Savior Jesus Christ as possible so that I can act in his name as he would when teaching. It’s the greatest calling in the world and has an infinite amount of motivation that comes with it. I can’t wait to get out in the field but also just to learn more! Spanish is awesome!

Con Amor,

Elder Marrott

P.S. I was totally speaking spanish to the nurses when I woke up. haha. I said I had to go to the bathroom and they were like sorry we don’t speak spanish and I said lo siento which is I’m sorry in spanish haha. Idk I guess my mind was just in spanish mode!
