Zone Conference and 1 year (almost)

Everyone,

Hey!!!

This week was pretty busy.. We had our big conference and the assistants stayed at our house the night before and yeah just nutso stuff.

In the conference and in general, the mission has been focusing a lot in Self Reliance.. It’s actually a really interesting subject. It’s got a lot to do with providing stuff temporally and not depending on anyone else. It’s also got some cool principles when you apply it spiritually. Like what would be someone spiritually self-reliant? A missionary? That’s more of what we have been focusing on. It’s been nice to do too as a leader because sometimes I have no idea what to do as a leader and if I can just help the missionaries all be self-reliant and help them in that process then that will help them more than anything. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

So we stopped teaching the English classes because no one was coming. Since my old companion left, people thought we weren’t going to have them anymore and it’s just died since then. Hopefully in the future we can have more success with that.

So it’s started raining again!!! It’s pretty exciting. Lucky I picked up a good jacket at my old house and it saved my bum yesterday on the way to church. So far it’s only really rained in the night besides yesterday but I hope it doesn’t during the day more because that could make the work hard...

We are teaching some really cool families right now. We should have a bunch of baptisms in a few weeks if they go to church. It’s been really fun meeting them and teaching them though.

I love you all and have a great week!!!

Love,

Elder Marrott

1.  How’s the weather there now?
It’s pretty hot during the day and it rains usually really hard during the night. Still not crazy storms yet but maybe that was only Cuautla. It rained yesterday in the morning though before church. That was nuts..

2.  What is the hardest thing for people to get over so they can be baptized?
COME TO CHURCH!!! It’s so frustrating. Then it’s kind of a struggle, and if they have a good experience there. Takes a lot of effort.

3.  What’s your favorite thing about your companion?  What bugs you the most?
He contacts a ton which is good because I don’t really like to contact.
He’s too punctual and uptight about some things.

4.  Do you have toys on your desk?  What are they?
I have that spinny light thing, but my comp broke it from spinning it too fast and letting it crash like 10 times... and like 5 rubix cubes :P

5.  What’s your favorite taco stand?
We don’t have one here yet....:(I´ll go looking here today)

6.  What pet are you keeping now?
Just some cool dogs at a few different houses :)

7.  How much time to you spend as Zone leader and how much time teaching?
Most days are almost all teaching. It’s the nights that are busy with dats and stuff. Then Tuesdays are tough. And just like any emergency, we drop everything and go sometimes. Mostly the nights though....

8.  How did your big Zone conference go?
Really good! It was just about all the missionaries last time seeing President and Hermana Kusch. I’ll see them again at the next leader council. We talked about Self-Reliance and also the Book of Mormon. Its super cool

9.  When you get together for a conference, do you go out to eat or does someone bring in food?
They told us ahead of time how many people would come and we had a Hermano from the ward help us out with the food and we just paid him. They brought it to the church

10.  Do you get a lot of attention because of how tall you are?
I think they think all Americans are as tall as me. But yeah sometimes. Kind of just as much as the united states though. I stand out cause I’m white more lol.

Taxis and Combis

Everyone,

hola a todos!
Hey! So this week has been pretty good. Pretty much everything normal.. We have been mostly busy here getting to know everything. We switched areas with the hermanas here which is kind of funny because my first week here as a zone leader we spent like 3 days straight looking for a new house for the hermanas and i got to know this area way better than my first. Now I’m in the house we found and the area! it’s pretty funny.

We are finding some pretty cool people too. Especially this one lady named Maria. She has been to church 2 times and has had some really cool experiences too. She had a really hard family issue that happened and was really depressed and was sleeping till like 1 in the afternoon everyday. The day after the hermanas visited her for the first time she got up the next morning and did some chores and felt great! Shes really cool. She should be our next baptism here in a couple weeks.

So here in this area too there are these really cool moto taxis that we take all the time. Our area is like 30 minutes on this one main road and both sides of the road so we can get to appointments really fast with the moto taxis and combis. Its pretty nice but we kind of use a ton of transport costs.. Anything above 500 pesos comes back to us as a refund for the next month but its still kind of tough with so many costs.

I’m doing really good. This week we have a conference with one of the other zones. Its going to be the last conference with this president before the new one comes in July. It will be kind of sad but I’m excited for it too. Its also going to be really stressful because we are hosting it and are in charge that all goes really well.

Well I’m learning a ton here! Next week I’m going to study something so that i can share it and have a really good letter. I love you all!!!

Love
